All must also participate and you as the game master must be neutral with all participating teams. Facilitate the space or play area so each one can move around freely.

Should it rain, games can be played indoors. Keeping scores is not important everyone will keep tally of the points. You can also reinvent the games to accommodate the needs of some players by changing the rules. Games must suit everyone’s physical activities level. Encourage teamwork, fair play and sportsmanship as winning is not important.

While the game is still interesting, stop the game before the players become exhausted and before the game loses its fun. And finally, allow each child to lead a game.

Here are a few instructions on some games:

  • Camping trip games for children:

Barnyard – Each child is given secretly the name of an animal with three children. At a given signal, each child will make the noise of the animal that he/she has been given. The group of three animals that find their mother first is declared the winner.

  • Camping games for adults:

Mr. B’s Shave – Give all campers a balloon and a marker each. Ask them to blow up the balloon and instruct them to draw Mr. B’s face. Provide a shaving cream and apply it to the so-called Mr. B’s face. The goal is to to shave Mr. B without making the balloon burst is the winner.

  • Camping games for both:

Machine – In a group of 6 or 10 players, create a machine by miming it all together. Each person is a part of the machine. Others must try to guess what the machine is. No talking and noise allowed. The other group will guess what kind of machine it is.
