No camping trip is complete without some really cool camping games that everyone young and old can play and enjoy. While a majority of your time camping is spent on things like hiking, bike riding, fishing and other out door activities, having some games to play can really add to everyone’s fun and enjoyment.
Out Door Camping Games
Bocce Ball
This is a really great game that consists of 8 colored balls and 1 smaller yellow ball. The rules of the game calls for you to play the game on a flat level surface such a grass lawn or other smooth surface. Now unless you think that playing shuffle board is an exciting time, you only need to know the general rules of the game and how to keep score.
Instead of playing this game on a smooth level surface, you will want to play it in the woods, on a gravel road, a dirt road with potholes, or any other surface that is anything but smooth and level. As you can see, our set has seen better days.
There have been times where we have played Bocce Ball on an old road that hasn’t been used for years and was full of rocks and holes. By the time anyone had thought to end the game, several hours had gone by.
Bocce Ball is definitely a game that everyone both young and old will find themselves playing for hours and having the time of their lives.

Ladder Toss
Ladder toss, also known as bolo toss is a fun camping game that was introduced to me a few years ago at a friends pig roast. It consists of a frame that resembles a ladder and two sets of three bolos that are made form two golf balls attached to either end of a piece of rope or shoe string.
The game is played by two or more people standing about 15 feet form the ladder and each taking turns throwing all three of their bolos at the 3 ladder steps. You can move the throwing line closer if you are playing with children.
After everyone has thrown their bolos, only those bolos that are wrapped around, or hanging from one of the ladder steps can be eligible for scoring points.
If one of the bolos thrown by the second player lands on the same ladder step of one of the bolos thrown by the first player, then no points are given for the bolos on that ladder step.
The bottom step counts for one point, two points for the center step and three points if your bolo ends up on the top step. The winner is the first person or team that reaches 21.
Here are some card games that can be played inside your tent or RV if the weather turns bad.
Uno
Uno is a fun card game that can be played by 2 – 10 people and is an easy game that can be played by adults and children as young as 7.
The game is played by dealing 7 cards to each player with the remaining cards placed face down on the table or playing surface. One card is removed from the face down cards and placed face up to start the discard pile.
The goal of the game is to be the first one to get rid of all your cards. Play starts with the person to the left of the dealer and goes counter clockwise with each person only laying down one card per turn.
You play your cards by matching either the number or color of the card that is face up. If you don’t have a match when it’s your turn, you must draw form the face down pile until you have a card that you can lay down.
And don’t forget to yell UNO when you only have one card left in your hand or you will have to draw 5 more cards if someone catches you.
Old Maid
This is a fun camping game for children that can be played using a regular deck of cards.
The game of old maid can be played by 2 or more players. You start by removing both of the jokers and one of the 4 queens form the deck of cards.
The cards are then dealt out to the players counter clockwise until all of the cards are gone. Depending on the number of players, some players will have more cards the others.
After all of the cards have been dealt, each player discards any pairs that they have in their hand. Any two matching cards make one pair.
Play starts with the dealer drawing one card from the person to their right. If this card matches a card in their hand, they can discard the pair.
Play continues counter clockwise with each player drawing one card form the player to their right. When a player has discarded all of their cards they sit out the remainder of the game.
At the end of the game, all of the cards will have been discarded except for one of the queens. The player holding the last queen is the old maid.
