This burgers in foil recipe will require hot coals, so be sure to get a good camp fire going before you start preparing the burgers. I like to get a good pile of coals going to one side of the fire so I don’t have to reach across the fire when turning the burgers over.
Here are the ingredients you will need for burgers in foil.
Ingredients
1 – 1 ½ lbs of extra lean ground beef (adjust the amount depending on the size you want your burgers)
2 sm bell peppers cleaned and chopped (you can use green or red bell peppers) we always use red.
4 – 8 16 inch squares of aluminum foil (heavy duty foil is preferred, but not required)
Dehydrated onion Flakes (I always substitute this with chopped fresh onions)
Worcestershire sauce
4 carrots, sliced (optional)
16 oz of sliced potatoes
Salt and pepper
Preparing Burgers in Foil
Divide the ground beef into 4 equal patties and place in the center of one of the squares of aluminum foil.
Place the potatoes, peppers and carrots in equal portions on top of each of the hamburger patties.
Now season the burgers using the Worcestershire sauce, onions and salt and pepper to taste.
Cooking Burgers in Foil
Place the burgers on top of the hot coals making sure that the foil doesn’t come into direct contact with the flames.
Cook for about 10 – 15 minutes per side, remove from the hot coals and enjoy.
Special Tips
I always wrap each burger in two squares of aluminum foil to make sure they don’t break open while cooking.
You can also place hot coals over the top of the burgers to keep from having to turn them over. Just make sure you keep good hot coals around them at all times. (You may have to increase the cooking time to around 20 minutes)
